June 2, 2009

Dr. Barbara Vanderhyden, a Senior Scientist in the OHRI's Cancer Therapeutics Program and Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, has been recognized with a Y Women of Distinction Award. Dr. Vanderhyden leads local science outreach programs such as Let’s Talk Science and Science Travels while running an active ovarian cancer research laboratory at OHRI. She also holds the Corinne Boyer Chair in Ovarian Cancer Research at the University of Ottawa.

According to the YMCA - YWCA website, the Y Women of Distinction Awards have recognized women who inspire us through their work in our community since 1994. "These awards celebrate the visionaries of the past, the courageous women who change the way we live today, and the young women who shape our tomorrow."
