Michael J. Fox Foundation grant funds way to peer at Parkinson’s onset
January 8, 2014
Drs.
John Woulfe
and
Doug Gray
have received a $75,000
Rapid Response Innovation Award
from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research to develop a mouse model for visualizing and measuring the buildup in the brain of a protein associated with the onset of Parkinson’s disease. This model would provide a useful window for understanding why and how the protein alpha-synuclein builds up in the brain, which could help to identify potential therapies for Parkinson’s. It could also be used to measure the effect of potential drugs or biotherapeutics. See details at
The Michael J. Fox Foundation
.
