Job Description:
This position will work with researchers to support our cancer and human embryonic stem cell and induced pluripotent stem cell research programs. He/she will perform tissue culture, molecular cloning, qPCR analysis, and Westerns. Other responsibilities may involve helping to manage the animal colony. In addition, the technician will perform ordering and various other lab management duties including working with sales representatives to learn about new reagents and leverage discounts for bulk purchases, working with other staff to ensure all equipment is in working order, etc. Approximately 50% of the time will be spent performing lab management duties including ordering as outlined above, and 50% of the time will be spent performing cell culture and molecular biology duties outlined above.

Basic Requirements (Education/Experience):
Education: B.Sc. or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Sterile technique in tissue culture as well as molecular biology experience including PCR and molecular cloning are a required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience: Site directed mutagenesis, lentiviral preparation, and cell transfection and transduction experience are preferred.
Other: Course work in Genetics and Cell Biology. Computer literacy, including familiarity with computer software for data entry; high-level of hand eye coordination; dexterity; ability to perform laboratory duties, including collecting and disseminating of laboratory data.
Good communication (oral and written) skills; excellent organization skills; high-level of accuracy; familiarity with laboratory protocols; ability to resolve routine problems; ability to apply and follow laboratory safety policies; the ability and willingness to learn new techniques. All experiments and protocols will be entered into LabGuru, an electronic notebook system.

Contract Details:
This is a 1- year full-time contract with possibility of renewal
Salary: Min. $20.396/hr. - Max. $29.476/hr.
