Shirley Westeinde

Board Member

Shirley is the Chair of the Westeinde Group of Companies, which specialize in Development, Property Management, and Leasing. Shirley is a graduate of the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in London, Ontario and the University of Western Ontario.

Over the years Shirley has participated on many business, Economic Development and Charitable Boards and Organizations.

She was the first female Chair of the Ottawa Economic Development Corporation, the Building Owner Managers Association of Ottawa and in 2004 she became the first female Chair of the Canadian Construction Association.

She is also a Past Chair of Algonquin College, the University of Ottawa Mental Health Research Institute and Success by Six.

Shirley has received many awards over her career, including, the Woman of Distinction Award, the Women’s Business Achievement Award, the Bnai Brith Award of Merit, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2004, she received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa, and in 2009, she was invested into the Order of Canada.
