Regenerative medicine is an emerging health research field focused on repairing and replacing damaged cells and tissues. Modern biological data gathering and analysis techniques require extensive computational support.

The student will work as a System Administrator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, Regenerative Medicine Program, within a team of bioinformatics specialists (http://www.ottawagenomecenter.ca/research/bioinformatics/)led by Dr. Theodore Perkins (http://www.ohri.ca/profiles/perkins.asp), a leading scientist in this aspect of health research.

Responsibilities of the student hired for this position will include:
* Support of a multi-site web server and associated applications
* Support of assorted computational clusters and associated software
* Legacy database migration and interface development
* Analysis of experimental data

Students applying for positions must have strong Unix system administration experience, with RedHat and Ubuntu skills perferred. Experience with PHP, Perl, R, MySQL and gridengine are preferred.
Biology knowledge and bionformatics skills and experiences would be useful but are not essential.
