Introduction

Provincial, National & International Stakeholders

The KS Group has garnered international recognition having conducted research for local, provincial, national and international stakeholders. We are currently a coordinating base for DSEN (Drug Safety and Effectiveness Network, the MAGIC team for knowledge synthesis); Funding source: Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Cochrane Rapid Review Methods Group.

The team has also been a past leader in a variety of vital initiatives in recent years including the following:

  • The Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care (in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Alberta Research Centre for Health Evidence)
  • The Cochrane Rapid Reviews Methods Group
  • CONSORT (CONsolidated Standards Of Reporting Trials) - Funding source: Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Medical Research Council (MRC) a subsidiary of the National Health Services (NHS)
  • PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses)
  • The team is also actively working on an array of academically funded systematic reviews and meta-analyses to address important knowledge gaps in healthcare regarding interventions for opioid use disorder; sudden sensorineural hearing loss; Meniere‚Äôs disease; methamphetamine addiction; the health effects of cannabis; influenza vaccination during pregnancy; management of acute and chronic pain; complementary and alternative medicines; and treatment and survivorship issues in oncology. The team is also involved in research for applications of artificial intelligence methods in the systematic review process.
