$400,000 study to assess cardiovascular risks and develop tools to improve health

March 11, 2014

Dr. Doug Manuel has been awarded nearly $400,000 from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to advance his research on population health risk assessment models, focusing on cardiovascular disease. Dr. Manuelís research aims to quantify the risks of cardiovascular disease for the Canadian population, as well as the benefits that can be achieved by adopting healthier behaviours such as eating better and exercising more. Dr. Manuel will also use this research to develop an online cardiovascular health calculator for individuals, similar to previous calculators he has developed. Further details, including a list of co-investigators, can be found in CIHRís Funding Decision Database.
