Tender Loving Research improves heart health for cancer survivors

August 26, 2015

The latest edition of our Tender Loving Research video blog features Dr. Susan Dent, a medical oncologist with Canada’s first cardiac oncology clinic at the The Ottawa Hospital. It’s estimated that soon one in six people over 65 will be cancer survivors. Dr. Dent explains that many of the new treatments for cancer have side-effects that can damage the heart. She is passionate about finding ways to prevent heart damage by identifying cancer patients most likely to suffer this effect from treatment. The Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s Tender Loving Research campaign aims to raise $50M for research at The Ottawa Hospital over the next three years.
