Researchers at The Ottawa Hospital awarded 15 CIHR grants worth more than $8.4 million

Researchers at The Ottawa Hospital are playing a lead role in 15 new projects awarded more than $8.4 million from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

These projects will advance science and improve health in areas such as pregnancy, mental health, neuromuscular disease, cancer, venous thrombosis, infectious disease, knowledge translation, diagnostic tests, lung disease and stroke.

“These research projects will help us provide the best care possible for our patients and community, while advancing science and improving health on a global scale,” said Dr. Duncan Stewart.

The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute had a success rate of 38 percent in this competition compared to the national average of 35 percent. Over the last three years, The Ottawa Hospital has held an average rank of #4 among hospitals for CIHR funding.
