Duncan Stewart receives inaugural grant from Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine

Dr.
Duncan Stewart
has been awarded a $75,000 Idea Grant from the new Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine to define epigenetic mechanisms by which mesenchymal stem cell therapy can reduce inflammation in sepsis. Dr. Stewart is collaborating with Dr.
Lauralyn McIntyre
on the
world’s first clinical trial of this therapy
at The Ottawa Hospital. The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute is a proud partner of the Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine, which was launched by the Ontario Minister of Research and Innovation earlier this week (see
news release for details
). Dr. Lisa Marie Julian in Dr.
Bill Stanford
’s group also received an inaugural postdoctoral fellowship from the new Institute.

The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute is the research arm of The Ottawa Hospital and is an affiliated institute of the University of Ottawa, closely associated with its faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences.
