A Research Ethics Review Fee of $3,000.00 is charged for ethics review. This review fee will support the Ottawa Hospital Research Ethics Board (OHREB) and Secretariat. It is separate from the institutional overhead. All requests for transfer of funds, and all cheques payable to the Ethics Board - Account LB LB 717105000, should be forwarded to the Ottawa Hospital Research Ethics Board, c/o Mary Ann Laviolette. The review fee will be applied to the appropriate protocol, and then forwarded to Research Administration for processing. If you would like us to bill the sponsor directly on behalf of the Ottawa Hospital for the review fee, we will require the following information, in addition to the information requested above: a) The sponsor's full name. All documentation should be sent to the following address:
751 Parkdale Avenue This fee applies to: a) drugs and device evaluations;b) protocols done in collaboration with a study group, and with industry support; c) studies undergoing full board review, or expedited review. The fee does not apply to studies that are: a) funded by granting agencies independent of industry; e.g., CIHR;b) unfunded studies; e.g., resident projects. Protocols run with more than one principal investigator, one per site, will have this fee charged per investigator. Consideration will be made for exemption from the charge, on a case by case basis, for otherwise implicated protocols which are peer-reviewed, and where only limited funding is available. Requests should be made in writing to the Chair of the Ottawa Hospital Research Ethics Board.
