Research Interests

My current research focuses on the following areas:

- Quality management of radiation therapy treatment planning and delivery processes, with an emphasis on plan evaluation methods and statistical modeling of radiotherapy outcomes. This work includes the development of software for automated evaluation of radiation dose and dose-volume metrics using basic treatment plan information, as well as machine learning methods for the prediction of treatment outcomes. Classic radiobiological evaluation methods and are also being explored.

- Virtual and augmented reality in medicine using consumer-level hardware. Work in this area also focuses on using the novel positional tracking systems associated with these technologies in the radiotherapy setting.

- Mathematical formalisms used in radiation dosimetry.

Brief Biography

Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario. I received a Ph.D. in physics, with a specialization in medical physics, from Carleton University in 2009. Prior to that I studied chemistry and physics at Lakehead University, graduating with H.B.Sc. in 2004.
I started at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre (TOHCC) in 2009 as a medical physics resident, and joined the physics staff in 2011.
