Biographical Sketch

Dr. Gary E. Garber is head of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Ottawa Hospital and professor of Medicine and of Biochemistry Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Garber is vice-chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chairman of the Ottawa Hospital Corporate Infection Control Committee.

Dr. Garber received his M.D. from the University of Calgary and did his internal medicine training at the University of Toronto and infectious disease training and MRC fellowship at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Garber is a previous president of the Canadian Infectious Disease Society, a founder of the Canadian Association for HIV Research. He is a member of the Ontario Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC)
With over 300 papers and abstracts, Dr. Garber's research interests include the appropriate use of antibiotics and evaluating novel antibiotics and antifungal agents in nosocomial infection
