Biographical Sketch
Dr. Sonya Kashyap completed her undergraduate studies at Queen's University, in Kingston Ontario, and her medical school training and residency with the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital, in Ottawa, Ontario.
There followed a prestigious Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. Her extensive training included reproductive and medical endocrincology, minimally invasive surgery, and paediatric endocrinology and gynaecology in their internationally renowned IVF unit. Under the mentorship of Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, Dr. Kashyap focused on assisted reproductive technology. Her research included clinical trials in patients with decreased ovarian reserve, thyroid disease, maternal outcomes after ART, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Returning to Ottawa in 2004, Dr. Kashyap completed a Masters in Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa. She also accepted a position at The Fertility Centre which allows her to divide her time evenly between a growing clinical practice and her research as an active Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. She has a special interest in epidemiology, cancer outcomes in women, and fertility preservation.
