Dr. Kothary received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia in 1984 and pursued postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Dr. Janet Rossant at the Mount Sinai Hospital Research Institute. From 1988 to 1990, Dr. Kothary performed further postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of Dr. Azim Surani in Cambridge, U.K. Here he continued to expand his interests in the use of transgenic mice to study molecular embryology. In the summer of 1990, Dr. Kothary returned to Canada to begin his independent research career at the Institut du cancer de Montréal. As a Scientist, Dr. Kothary has been supported by Scholarships from the MRC (1990-1995) and the FRSQ (1995-1998). In April of 1998 Dr. Kothary joined the staff at the OHRI as a Senior Scientist. He is cross-appointed to the Department of Medicine and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine of the University of Ottawa as a Professor. He is also Associate Director of OHRI.
