The goal of TIPPS is to determine whether a blood thinner (given throughout pregnancy) can prevent pregnancy complications, such as:
  • Miscarriage
  • Stillbirth
  • Pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure in pregnancy where protein leaks into the urine)
  • Very small birth weight babies (called intrauterine growth restriction)
  • Blood clots in the legs, pelvis, or lungs (called deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism)
