Thrombosis Program Team

Anne Marie C.; RN, CCRC
Research Coordinator

Anne Marie C. has been a registered nurse since 1990; she is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator and is Oncology Certified in Canada. She spent 7 years in Boca Raton, Florida working for a private Hematology-Oncology practice doing outpatient treatment, visits and research work, including industry trials and multiple National Cancer Institute (NCI) studies. Her current focus is on studies related to thrombosis and pregnancy and she is a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics Neonatal Nurse (AWHONN).

Angèle L.; RN
Research Coordinator

Angèle graduated from Cambrian College with her Registered Nurse diploma in 1984. Angèle most recently worked as a clinical research coordinator for the North Bay Dermatology Centre before moving to Ottawa to work with the Thrombosis Program as a research coordinator for the REVERSE and SOX studies.

 

Melissa S.

Research Coordinator

Melissa S. started with the Thrombosis Program in April 2006 as a Research Coordinator.  Melissa has been a nurse since 1989 when she graduated from Algonquin College from its Nursing program. Melissa has worked in a variety of positions but most recently as a clinical care manager for Ontario Cancer Research and before that as a unit coordinator for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre and for five years as a nurse at the former Grace Hospital in the General Surgery and Obstetrics Unit.

 

Nicole L.; RN, MSc
Research Associate

Nicole L. is a registered nurse; she graduated with a Master's degree in nursing research in 1996. She has been involved in research in several clinical areas: psychiatry, obstetric anesthesia, and currently venous thrombosis, and has participated in all phases of the research process, including planning, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of results. Presently, Nicole plays an active role in study design and preparing applications to funding agencies. She is also the coordinator of the Thrombophilia Program Grant (QUEST) directed by Dr. Wells.

Michèle W.
Administrative Assistant

Michèle W. trained as a medical secretary and started her career working in government before staying home for a few years to raise her family. She has worked extensively as a medical secretary and more recently as a research administrative assistant. In 1998 she joined the Division of Hematology and is currently Dr. Marc Rodger’s administrative assistant.

Marilyn C.; BA
Administrative Assistant

Marilyn C. graduated from Carleton University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and biology. She worked for many years as a Reference Service library assistant in the Carleton University Library, with some time off to raise her family. Marilyn has been assisting Dr. Phil Wells with his research endeavours since 1996.

Barron G.
Laboratory Technician

Barron G. received his Lab Tech/Phlebotomy diploma from Career Canada College in 2003. Following a co-op placement with the Thrombosis Group, Barron joined the Team on a part-time, then full-time basis. Barron currently divides his time between the Thrombosis Genetics Laboratory and performing phlebotomy for the Factor V Leiden Pedigree study.

Jennifer C.

Laboratory Technician

Jennifer C. started with the Thrombosis Program in January 2007 as a Research Lab Technician in the Thrombosis Genetics Lab in the CHEO Research Lab.  Jennifer will be graduating from Canadore College of Applied Arts and Technology with a Technologist diploma from the Biotechnology Program.  Jennifer completed an eight month internship at the StemCore Laboratories (formerly the Ottawa Genomics Innovation Center) at the OHRI in mid-December 2006.

 

Lesley Y.

INR Clerk

Lesley Y. started with the Thrombosis Program in June 2006 as the Anti Coagulant (INR) Clerk.  Lesley graduated with her B.Sc (Hons) from the University of Ottawa in May 2006 with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Biology.  Lesley volunteered in the Patient Comment Card Program in the Quality Department of The Ottawa Hospitals Civic Campus prior to her employment with the Thrombosis Program.


Janet C. MD, MBA, CCRP
Research Coordinator
Janet.C had her Medical degree from Hunan Medical University in 1991 in China and her MBA (Master of Business Administration) from City University in 2001 in USA. She has had 8 years of clinical research experience as a monitor and a manager in Pharmacia/ Pfizer in China before she starting with the Thrombosis Program in 2008 as a Research Coordinator.

Katharine Y.
Research Associate

Katharine Y. started with the Thrombosis Program in August 2009 as a Senior Clinical Research Associate. Katharine has worked in clinical research 1992 after graduating from McGill University's MSc Nursing program. Katharine has worked in a variety of positions but most recently as the Clinical Research Manager for the University of Ottawa Health Services and before that as Clinical Research Manager for Meadowlands Family Health Centre as well as therapeutic specialist positions for Glaxo Wellcome, Merck Frosst and Pfizer.

Tina H.
Administrative Assistant

Tina H. started with the Thrombosis Program in September 2009. Tina graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 2000. Previously, Tina worked at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) with The Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group (CHEO Research Institute) as a Research Administrative Assistant.
