Dr. Theodore Perkins was awarded $205,000 to improve high-throughput DNA sequencing, an important tool in health research. Dr. Hsiao-Huei Chen was awarded $200,000 to explore how early life experiences alter how brain resident immune cells called microglia affect mood regulation and anxiety. Dr. Robin Parks was awarded $180,000 to determine how the protein kinase DYRK2 regulates cell death and immunity in response to substances that damage DNA. Dr. Christina Addison was awarded $160,000 to investigate how microRNA controls the formation of new blood vessels.

Research at The Ottawa Hospital is possible because of generous donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
