Curious about cancer, research and clinical trials? Join us on November 2, 2019 for "Cancer: Piecing the Puzzle Together"

You are invited to join The Ottawa Hospital and partners on Saturday, November 2, 2019 for an engaging and interactive public event focused on cancer.

Highlights include:

  • Lucy van Oldenbarneveld, host of CBC News Ottawa, will discuss her experience as a cancer survivor and moderate the keynote talk.
  • Dr. John Bell, a world-renowned scientist specializing in cancer biotherapeutics, will give the keynote talk on “Cancer: from biology to breakthroughs”.
  • Breakout sessions will be offered in English and French on topics such as Cancer Research 101, Introduction to Cancer Clinical Trials, Patient Advocacy, Investments in Cancer Research and Life with Cancer.
  • Attendees can try out virtual reality goggles for chemotherapy, walk through a giant colon and make a DNA bracelet in the exhibit area, which will feature more than 20 displays from local and national organizations in the cancer field.

This free event, titled “Cancer: Piecing the Puzzle Together,” is organized by the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance in collaboration with The Ottawa Hospital and other partners. It will be of interest to cancer patients, survivors, their families and others affected by or interested in the disease. It will be held at the Shaw Centre at 55 Colonel By Drive on November 2, 2019 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., just one day before the Canadian Cancer Research Conference.
