Cancer clinical trial team and investigator receive major national honours

A group from The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Program has received the Investigational New Drug Program Team Award from the Canadian Cancer Trials Group for the sixth time in 10 years. This annual award is presented to a non-physician team of clinical research associates, nurses, pharmacists and others to acknowledge excellence in the conduct of a clinical trial.

In this case, the trial involves a novel drug for breast cancer and the team includes Nancy Drummond-Ivars, Sarah Roach, Alisar Alhajj,        Jo Wells, Kathy Lebreux, Natacha Parisien, Joanna Moffitt, Caroline Dean, Vanda Theberge, Xiang Wang, Lise Thaw, Elizabeth O’Brien, Kathy Cowan, Sara Ieradi, Brianna Conway, Matt Fish, Maria Sanchez, Lisa Turriff and Archana Tikoo.

In addition, Dr. Michael Ong was recognized with the Dr. Elizabeth Eisenhauer Early Drug Development Young Investigator Award.

“These are very significant national awards and the cancer program is really proud of these individuals,” said Dr. Rebecca Auer.
