World-renowned 3D printing expert recruited to Ottawa

September 9, 2015

Dr. Frank Rybicki, one of the world’s leading experts in medical 3D printing, has joined The Ottawa Hospital as Chief of Medical Imaging. Dr. Rybicki is also a Senior Clinician Investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and Chair of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. In 2007, Dr. Rybicki was part of the team that performed the first full-face transplant in the U.S., made possible through 3D printing technology. 3D printers have also been used to create various medical implants and living tissues. In a recent interview with the Ottawa Citizen, Dr. Rybicki called 3D printing “the ultimate form of personalized medicine”. Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital, noted that Dr. Rybicki’s recruitment “is another piece of the puzzle for us because once your reach a critical mass of having the top talent, it attracts more.”
