OHRI partners with new national stem cell network

May 19, 2014

The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, through Dr. Duncan Stewart, is partnering with CellCAN, a new network based in Montreal that has a mandate to increase access to stem cell driven medical treatments. Led by Dr. Denis Claude Roy, CellCAN will receive $1.6 million over four years through the Networks of Centres of Excellence Program. CellCAN will work to bring together stakeholders in stem cell research, including governments, researchers, clinicians, funders, industry, charities, patient representatives and the public. The network aims to standardize practices and promote innovative treatments for diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
