June 8, 2016

The Emergency Medicine Research Group took home the inaugural Research Excellence Team Award at The Ottawa Hospital’s Excellence Awards ceremony on May 31. This group of six scientists, six fellows and 40 research staff is currently supported by $12M in peer-reviewed funding. They are known around the world for leading large clinical trials in collaboration with paramedics and firefighters, and for developing clinical decision rules and risk scales to improve diagnosis and reduce unnecessary imaging. Their research has improved care for people suffering from cardiac arrest, trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, COPD and many other conditions. Research groups from the Intensive Care Unit and the Kidney Research Centre were also recognized among the top nominees for this award. In addition, Nancy Camack was a top nominee for the Outstanding Leader Award and Jodi Peters was a top nominee for the Working Together Award.
