January 9, 2019

Dr. Dar DowlatshahiDr. Dar Dowlatshahi has been honored with the 2018 e-Health, Technology, and Monitoring Excellence Award by the Innovation Fund Provincial Oversight Committee. His team’s project “Recover Now: Mobile Tablet-based Stroke Rehabilitation in the Acute Care Setting” was selected amongst several nominations from across Ontario.

“Our patients are the first in the world to engage in tablet-based stroke rehabilitation while still in acute care, right after their acute stroke therapies” said Dr. Dowlatshahi, stroke neurologist and scientist at The Ottawa Hospital and associate professor at the University of Ottawa. “The Innovation fund allowed us to launch the Recover Now Pilot, which led to four publications and a recent Heart and Stroke Foundation Grant in Aid.  We are launching a Phase II multi-centre trial led out of The Ottawa Hospital.”

Research at The Ottawa Hospital is possible because of generous donations to the hospital.
