December 3, 2014

Dr. Duncan Stewart has been awarded a $75,000 Idea Grant from the new Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine to define epigenetic mechanisms by which mesenchymal stem cell therapy can reduce inflammation in sepsis. Dr. Stewart is collaborating with Dr. Lauralyn McIntyre on the world’s first clinical trial of this therapy at The Ottawa Hospital. The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute is a proud partner of the Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine, which was launched by the Ontario Minister of Research and Innovation earlier this week (see news release for details). Dr. Lisa Marie Julian in Dr. Bill Stanford’s group also received an inaugural postdoctoral fellowship from the new Institute.
