Champlain eConsult tool receives national recognition for improving access to medical specialists
September 30, 2015
A web-based medical consultation tool developed by a team led by Drs. Clare Liddy and Erin Keely has ranked second in
Canada Health Infoway’s 2015 ImagineNation e-Connect Impact Challenge for e-Requests for Services
. As described in this
video
, the Champlain BASE eConsult Service can reduce wait times for specialty medical advice from months to an average of two days, with high user satisfaction. More than 46 teams from across Canada competed in the challenge, aimed at improving the quality of care and the patient experience by advancing digital adoption among health-care providers. Currently more than half of primary care providers in Eastern Ontario are registered users of the Champlain BASE eConsult Service, which is a collaboration between The Ottawa Hospital, Bruyère Research Institute, the Champlain Local Health Integration Network, and the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
