OHRI AND INNO-CENTRE SIGN MOU

The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (www.ohri.ca) and Inno-centre Ottawa Corporation (www.innocentre.com) are pleased to announce that they have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The MOU will facilitate collaborative efforts between the two organizations to assist local biomedical researchers to successfully add value to their intellectual properties, and to strengthen links between the academic, business and government communities.

The OHRI, which is affiliated with the Ottawa Hospital and University of Ottawa, is one of Canada's largest and fastest growing health research centres. Under the leadership of its CEO and Scientific Director, Dr. Ron Worton, numerous new research projects involving world-renowned scientists have been launched. OHRI has attracted over $ 34 million of new funding for health research and is home to two Networks of Centres of Excellence (www.nce.gc.ca): the Canadian Stroke Network, whose Scientific Director is Dr. Tony Hakim, and the Network for Stem Cell Research, of which Dr. Worton is the Scientific Director. The Chief Operating Officer of OHRI is Mr. Robert Hanlon.

Inno-centre is a not-for-profit company that, in its 14-year history, has assisted innovators create and build more than 150 knowledge-based companies. It offers technology entrepreneurs an extensive business mentoring program and access to a broad network of seasoned business professionals who help fast-track the new company's development. Inno-centre Ottawa's President is Dr. Jom Aw (jom.aw@innocentre.com) and the Board of Directors is chaired by Dr. Peter Morand.
