BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
I am currently an Associate Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine, University of Ottawa. I completed my Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics and Epidemiology in 2006 under the supervision of Drs. Allan Donner and Neil Klar at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario. My Ph.D. thesis was entitled "Missing Outcomes in Community Intervention Trials: Consequences and Treatments". My major research interests are in the field of statistical methodology for analyzing correlated data, including clustered and longitudinal data. Prior to moving to Canada in 2000, I was a lecturer in Statistics at the University of Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
STATISTICAL CONSULTING WORK
As a Member of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) Methods Centre, I provide Biostatistical support to researchers at the OHRI and University of Ottawa in the planning, conducting and reporting of their research projects, including:
- Refining study objectives and identifying primary outcomes;
- Choosing an appropriate study design;
- Developing an appropriate statistical analysis plan;
- Calculating the required sample size;
- Preparing the statistical analysis section of a grant proposal and/or study protocol;
- Analyzing data;
- Interpreting and reporting results, including development of abstracts, professional meeting presentations, and journal manuscripts.
