About Us

The Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) was founded in 1992 and is one of the premiere research centres for clinical pharmacokinetics in Canada. The CIU is part of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), and is located at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital, a leading academic health sciences centre in Canada.

The CIU has extensive experience in the design and conduct of clinical and pharmacokinetic studies in all phases of drug development, from Phase I to Phase IV, including bioequivalence studies, drug-drug and drug-food interaction studies, in a number of therapeutic areas, with a special interest in infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS research. Numerous studies have been conducted in close collaboration with leading international pharmaceutical industries and academic investigators.
