Major Research Activities

Dean Fergusson's clinical research interests are in the field of transfusion medicine. Specifically, he has focused much of his research on transfusion alternatives and the effectiveness of blood products. His current work in clinical trials methodology and ethics concerns clinical equipoise, the ethics of placebo-controlled trials and issues related to establishing the efficacy of blinding in trials.
